There are non-negotiable principles. Trust
is a principle that cannot be negotiated. When you are a true friend, you do
not abandon someone in a difficult moment. As Marysia did with Michel, she
helped him when a tree fell on him. Marysia asked for help from the people
around her to save him. In contrast, a "friend" like Professor
Dobraniecki abandoned Professor Rafal Wilczur when some bad people wanted to
kill him and left him to his fate. Although he scared away the bad guys, he did
not help save his life because he was envious of how successful Dr. Rafal could
become. However, Professor Rafal Wilczur managed to save himself. A true friend
would have helped him by quickly taking him to a hospital or providing him with
assistance as a doctor.
Equity is a principle that is often confused
with equality, but they are not the same. Marysia and Leszek needed medical
attention, but their health conditions were different. She was between life and
death, while he had minor injuries. The doctor preferred to treat Leszek for
money. Additionally, he violated the principle of professional ethics, as there
are levels of urgency to determine the priority of care, and he preferred money
over saving a person's life.
Justice should not be negotiated, as when
Dr. Rafal Wilczur was accused of false identification by calling himself Antoni
and for performing unauthorized medical procedures. Finally, we saw that
justice was done, as he had to give himself a name because he had lost his
memory, and the medical procedures were performed with the knowledge he had as
a qualified doctor.
Respect for life and the decisions of other people is a fundamental principle, even if we do not agree. Zenek, out of anger at not having Marysia's love, decided to cut the brakes on Leszek's motorcycle. They had a serious accident where she was seriously injured due to a bad decision by Zenek, who did not respect Marysia's right to life and freedom to choose who to share her life with. Finally, there was justice, and Zenek went to jail for trying to kill Marysia and Leszek.
